Dr. Shailendra Palvia is Professor of MIS at Long Island University in New York, USA. He received his M.B.A. and Ph.D. from the University of Minnesota. He is a graduate of the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Delhi, India. Dr. Palvia has more than 140 research articles in refereed journals and refereed conference proceedings. Prior to joining the ranks of academia, Dr. Palvia worked in industry for IBM, Control Data Corporation, and Federal Reserve Bank of Minneapolis. Dr. Palvia has been invited speaker to institutions and conferences in Singapore, Thailand, Russia, India, Italy, and Germany.
Dr. Palvia has been organizing annual international smart-sourcing conferences since 2002. As a global sourcing expert, he has been interviewed by several organizations including national radio in USA. His most recent book, with co-editors P.Palvia and Al Harris, on Managing Global Information Technology, is a standard text used by global information technology and international business curricula. Dr. Rathi Dasgupta, Managing Director - India, INTEC Telecoms & Founder, The Strategic Sourcing Group, former Co-Founder, TARGET Corporation, India.
Currently working as Country Head of a Software Product company (one of the top five OSS / BSS vendors in the world, listed in London), I have 19 Years of experience working with software products and services organizations of repute such as SUN Microsystems, TARGET Corporation, Wipro Technologies, First Apex, Sharp Corporation, i2 Technologies, Coopers & Lybrand, Xansa and George Soros Funded / Group Organization. I was a co-founder and Director of TARGET corporation in India.
My specialization is management of wholly owned subsidiaries of US and Europe based technology organizations. I was instrumental in creating the first offshore company (TCG Software, NY) in Calcutta in 1994. I have been playing senior management role for more than a decade. As a technology professional, I led research initiatives (resulting to patent) during my tenure in SUN and SHARP. I led the open source initiative for Xerces at SUN.
My current research interest is off-shoring and outsourcing. I published three papers in 2007 and was speaker in five international conferences in US and India. I do invest in start-up technology organizations and mentor them,My long term goal in life is creating a very specialized management consulting firm and active teaching and research in management.I do consulting with Wall street based investment firms and large MNC(s) on strategic investment and outsourcing.Recently I promoted a research organization named "The Strategic Sourcing Group" working specially on strategy consulting.

Dr. Zareen Karani Araoz, President, Managing Across Cultures and Past President of SIETAR International is based in the US and India. She is a renowned cross-border collaboration consultant working in 20+ countries for the past 24 years, briefing global leaders and training cross-cultural teams from leading MNCs. She coaches executives, as well as aspiring entrepreneurs. She identifies their important, business critical cross-border issues, particularly regarding people, teamwork and communication. She has helped leading executives from Dell, Cummins, Tatas, SIEMENS, GE Capital, DuPont, Price Waterhouse, AT&T, EMC, Lucent, HP, Glaxo, Wyeth, Polaroid, Air India and leaders at the UN. Dr. Araoz has focused on helping outsourcing ventures become more effective, working with teams on both sides of the ocean, as well as with leaders to help determine their strategies. She has written several articles on Global Sourcing and has been invited as a Keynote Speaker at conferences worldwide and interviewed on television on this topic. She was also a speaker on “the Challenges of Outsourcing” at Pravasi Bharati Divas, and has conducted many workshops sponsored by NASSCOM in various Indian cities on “Managing Across Cultures”.
Dr. Araoz has a Law Degree, MA and M.Ed from Pune University, and a Ph.D. in Cross-cultural Counseling Psychology from Denver University. She was faculty at the University of Denver, and at the Master’s Program of Intercultural Management at the School for International Training and was Founding Director of the Intercultural Relations Program at Lesley University, teaching Intercultural Management. She also runs courses at the Management School and Executive Programs of the University of Linkoping, Sweden, and is a Guest Lecturer at several Universities in the US.
