We invite researchers, industry practitioners and policy makers to submit proposals for papers, panel discussions and workshops related to global outsourcing of IT and ITES for the Ninth Annual International Smart sourcing Conference, (ISSC’09) to be held at the picturesque 320 acres campus of IIT Delhi, India on January 5-6, 2011. Previous eight conferences have been held in different cities of USA, except the 2008 conference, that was held in India in the 2200 acres campus of the University of Hyderabad on August 9-10, 2008.

The focus of the 9th conference will be: SOURCING OF SERVICES WORLDWIDE: IMPACT ON GLOBAL ECONOMIC DIVIDE

Among some top notch keynote speakers are Dr. Jagdish Sheth and Mr. Steven J. Bandrowczak.

Jagdish Sheth
Dr. Jagdish Sheth is a renowned scholar and world authority in the field of marketing. His insights on global competition, strategic thinking and customer relationship management are considered revolutionary. Dr. Sheth is the Charles H. Kellstadt Chair of Marketing in the Goizueta Business School at Emory University. Prior to this, he was a distinguished faculty member at the University of Southern California, the University of Illinois, Columbia University and the Massachussetts Institute of Technology.

Professor Sheth has published more than 200 books and research papers in different areas of marketing and business strategy. Many of these are considered classic references. His timely advice promises to aid business leaders looking to develop immediate and long-term strategies for improving their competitive position.

Steven J. Bandrowczak
Mr. Steven J. Bandrowczak is chief information officer (CIO) for Nortel. Mr. Bandrowczak is responsible for Nortel′s information technology strategy and operations, leading the Information Services group, and overseeing Nortel′s internal network infrastructure, business applications and data security. Mr. Bandrowczak leads Nortel′s IT department, leveraging the breadth of the Company′s own technology and networking capabilities to transform business networks, remove barriers to efficiency, productivity and growth and create opportunities for new revenues and services.

Prior to joining Nortel, Mr. Bandrowczak served as CIO for Lenovo Group, a global producer of PC products and value-added professional services. At Lenovo, he helped lead the company through the initial stages of its $11 billon IBM spin-off in 2005, enacting a 24-month plan to build the company′s IT infrastructure. His experience also includes serving as executive vice president and worldwide CIO for DHL Worldwide, a global market leader in the international express and logistics industry.

Previously, he spent 14 years with Avnet in a variety of IT roles, culminating as CIO for the electronics distributor. In 2004, Mr. Bandrowczak was named one of the Top 100 CIO's by Computerworld. He holds a B.S. in Computer Science from Long Island University, C.W. Post and is based at Nortel′s New York office.

In the past, the delegates have hailed from Australia, Austria, Brazil, China, Finland, Germany, India, Italy, Netherlands, Russia, South Africa, U.K., U.S.A.

While submitting a paper to the International Conference Chairperson – Dr. Shailendra Palvia, spalvia@liu.edu please note the following,

  • The deadline for submission of all papers is Friday, July 30, 2010.
  • For academic researchers, full paper should not exceed 20 pages double spaced.
  • For industry practitioners, paper length should not exceed 5 pages double spaced.
  • Proposals should be submitted as soft copies, using MS-Word.
  • Blind review comments/recommendation will be provided by Friday, August 27. At that time, authors of the few outstanding papers will be invited to submit full blown papers for publication consideration in the well regarded double blind refereed journal called Journal of IT Case and Application Research (JITCAR). Some papers which do not utilize case or application based research methodology will be considered for the new annual journal – Journal of Global Sourcing of Services (JGSS). These papers will be due by Friday, October 29, 2010.
  • Early bird registration deadline is October 31, 2010.
  • Final conference paper and Powerpoint presentation slides are due by Friday, October 22, 2010.
  • All accepted papers will be published in the proceedings of the conference.
  • All accepted papers must be presented at the conference.
  • In case of multiple authors, at least one of the authors must register and present the paper at the conference.
  • Three outstanding papers will be recognized at the conference and will be published in the Special Issue of JITCAR, Volume 11, Number 4 dedicated to Global Outsourcing of IT and ITES. Some papers will be recognized for publication acceptance in the new journal -- Journal of Global Sourcing of Services (JGSS).
  • All accepted papers from the Healthcare outsourcing and Medical Tourism track will also be considered for a book on Global Medical Tourism to be co-edited by Dr. Shailendra C. Palvia and Dr.G.V.R.K.Acharyulu.
  • By submitting the proposals, the authors are granting Center for Global Sourcing, the permission for use of the papers and presentations in any subsequent publication related to this conference in its original or edited form to suit the nature of the publication.
